Calistoga
Northernmost of the towns in Napa Valley, Calistoga maintains a low-key, chic bohemian vibe. The town is best known for hot springs, sparkling mineral pools, and mud baths. Who can resist? The Wappo tribe who lived in the area long ago discovered these geothermal sites, and settlers naturally began to visit once word got out. The warm waters still attract those seeking relaxing treatments, and people come from all over. This influx of visitors means there’s a sophisticated restaurant and wine tasting scene. And though a distance from San Francisco, it is wonderfully close to the town of Healdsburg, full of fabulous new restaurants and numerous clothing, jewelry and housewares hops situated around a pretty town square. With a safety rating far above the national average, Calistoga is a welcoming and wonderful place to call home.
